Lightning once again split the sky, illuminating the two huddled figures sheltering in the rock face.

Will you be striking for the NHS?

Are you striking? I don’t mean good looking, I mean exercising your right to withdraw your labour.

Of course, many of us are choosing to carry on working, struggling on with ‘mustn’t grumble’ as our refrain.

Although those selfless workers have dedication which is admirable, is it also misplaced. Other colleagues are supporting the action by craftily having a stealth strike. Read more »

GPs take over the PCT parking spaces at the Black Tower

One of the best things about the media is the number of times we see celebrities reinventing themselves. Joanna Lumley became Queen of the Gurkhas and Jedward are now a pop act, apparently.

All of these people see their reinvention as a development in their careers. Last week the Silver Fox looked like a man trying to save his career by becoming the champion of the public purse.

Time to escape the collapsing Black Tower

I want a new job. The Black Tower is collapsing, the Cluster is goosed, the GPCC/CCGs are about to be herded together, demoralised and punished for all the evils of the system, but it’s okay – I know the job I want.

I’d like to be able to travel the country, meeting people to make a documentary on the evils of the NHS.

Spider-Man is right

I had a dream the other night, I was stood in front of a large monolith with hundreds of names carved on its surface.

This impressive lump of granite contained the names of those whose lives were destroyed by the Fight to Save the NHS. Those individuals who tried to make a difference in the massive system included several who actually did die in service, but also many whose public service ethos had led them in to working to serve the population as NHS managers, public health specialists, commissioners. These people decided to sign up voluntarily for the service because they believed. They gave their lives to the NHS.
