Saying no to the Health Bill

Are you totally hacked off?

I don’t just mean the usual Friday ‘it’s been a long week ‘ feeling, but a total growing disinterest in the media debate about how bad the bill is, how the RCGP is playing Hokey Cokey, how we’re only upset because of our pensions, the list goes on and on. Read more »

What if the Health Bill falls at the final hurdle

Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Concentrate on the breath entering your body and as it flows out imagine the Health Bill being voted out of Parliament. What would you do? Have a party? Celebrate by seeing some patients? Read more »

No downside to the Health Bill!

I was speaking to a lawyer friend of mine. He has a passing interest in the NHS, having built his house on the spoils of litigation. Of course he’s been watching the progress or the Bill with great interest. His take on the outcome of it all is interesting. Read more »

Hello darkness, my old friend

I had some stuff to do in the office on Friday, mostly just finishing off things before heading off on a course on Monday. It was just past five when I looked up from the desk, packed my bag and headed out of the office. I thought I had better just wish the folks in the office a good weekend.

Black Tower becomes the Big Brother house

I’ve
always been one of those medics who appreciate the wider primary health care
team.

Although
not married to a nurse, I can understand their view point and at times share an
empathy when dealing with a tough case.

How much do GPs know about the NHS reforms?

This week I was pretending to be a proper GP and attended a
meeting about finances. It was fascinating to meet other regular GPs from
beyond the realm of the Black
Tower.
