Will Lansley win or lose at NHS Monopoly?

About now the Silver Fox household will be seeing the game of NHS Monopoly undergoing a rule change.

The idea will be to collect all the money previously promised to the GPs and stick it in the community chest run by the Health and Wellbeing Boards – that way the local politicians get to control the NHS and the GPs get the blame.

You’ve got to wonder what is happening inside the mind of the Silver fox.

It looks like ‘call me Dave’ is going to push on with the Bill, despite 1,001 amendments which really mean that the biggest- top-down-bottom-up reorganisation since the NHS was started is not the same beast that the Silver Fox created after saying that he wasn’t going to break up the NHS.

Political pundits are all whispering about the immense cost to the government if the public believes they can’t be trusted to sort out the NHS, and the dirty tricks department is leaking stories about the RCGP leaders conflicts of interest being the motivation to ban the Bill.

So, inside the mind of the Silver Fox would be a very interesting place. Would it be calm, serene, totally white, some might say blank? Would it be a Dali-esque surreal environment in which ‘maybe’ means ‘yes’ and no means ‘take me I’m yours’, with the words competition and integration being interchangeable?

I don’t know, but I bet the Silver Fox’s kitchen table is being thumped right now, with plans, diagrams, miniature figures and scale models of PFI hospitals all scattering off the surface.

The DH minions will be stood impotently by the sink, hoping the fury will subside, that normal rules resume and that someone will give this poor loser the racing car, top hat or, even better, the boot.
